Privacy Policy
Google Docs Voice Typing · Effective date: 11 September 2026
This policy covers the Google Docs Voice Typing Chrome extension and this page on easymeetrecord.com. The extension is published by the team behind Record Google Meet and Record Zoom Meeting (“we”, “us”).
The short version: we process your voice so it can become text, and we do not keep the voice or the text afterwards.
What we collect and why
Microphone audio, while you are dictating. The microphone is opened only when you start dictation — by holding Right Option, clicking the Voice button, using the Tools menu row, or pressing the keyboard shortcut — and it is closed when you stop. Nothing is captured before you start or after you stop. The audio of each take is sent to our backend at app.easymeetrecord.com, which forwards it to a speech-to-text provider (Groq, or OpenAI for some languages on the Pro plan) purely to turn it into text. The text comes back to the extension and is inserted into your document. We do not store the audio.
The text of a take, for tidy-up. When “Tidy up with AI” is on (the default), the transcribed text of the take is sent to the same providers to remove fillers, false starts and stutters and to fix punctuation, without rephrasing you. Only the current take is sent — never the rest of your document. We do not store this text. Your recent takes are kept in the browser on your own machine so that “Insert last transcription” and “Recent takes” work; they never leave your device.
Your personal dictionary. The words, names and terms you add in the popup are stored in your browser and sent along with each take so the transcription spells them your way.
An install token. On first run the extension registers with our backend and receives a token stored in your browser. It identifies the installation to our API so we can apply quotas and reject requests from anywhere else.
An obfuscated Chrome profile id. We read the anonymised profile identifier Chrome exposes through chrome.identity.getProfileUserInfo. It is not your email address and it cannot be reversed into one. We use it to key your free minutes so that reinstalling the extension does not hand out unlimited free minutes.
Your IP address. Seen by our backend on every request, as with any web service. We use it for abuse and rate limiting, and for regional quota and pricing rules. We do not build a location profile from it.
Product analytics (PostHog). We record events about how the extension is used — installed, dictation started, dictation stopped with a duration, errors, quota exhausted, and similar — together with an anonymous client id and coarse technical data such as extension version and platform. These events never contain the contents of your documents or your dictated text.
Your email address, if you sign in. Dictation beyond the first anonymous minute requires an account, created with Google sign-in. We then store your email address and account identifier, and your subscription and quota state.
What we do not collect
- The contents of your Google Docs documents. The extension inserts text; it does not read, copy or upload what is already in the document.
- Your browsing history, or the pages you visit.
- Anything from tabs other than the Google Docs pages the extension runs on (and any other site you have explicitly granted access to for “dictate anywhere”).
- Passwords, cookies or credentials.
- We do not sell personal data, and we do not use your audio or text to train any model of our own.
How long we keep things

Third parties
We share the minimum needed to make the product work:
- Groq and OpenAI — speech-to-text and text tidy-up. They receive the audio and text of a take, and are used for transcription only.
- Supabase — accounts and authentication.
- LemonSqueezy — payments and subscriptions. Card details go to LemonSqueezy directly; we never see or store them.
- PostHog — product analytics.
- Railway — hosting for our backend.
Each of these has its own privacy policy and processes data on our behalf. We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
Your rights
- Clear your local data by removing the extension, or by clearing its settings in the popup.
- Ask us to delete your account and everything tied to it — email us and we will do it.
- Ask for a copy of the account data we hold.
- Turn off “Tidy up with AI” in the popup, so text is inserted exactly as transcribed and no text is sent for cleanup.
- Dictate anonymously for your first free minute, without creating an account at all.

Permissions the extension asks for

Children
The extension is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or who we share it with, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the Chrome Web Store listing.
