EasyMeet Assistant for Zoom
EasyMeet Assistant joins a Zoom meeting you are in as a visible participant and records the meeting's video and audio for you. When the meeting ends you download the recording from the extension.
It works with the Record Zoom Meeting and Record Google Meet Chrome extensions and is available on the PRO plan.
Adding the app
- Install the Record Zoom Meeting extension in Google Chrome and sign in with your PRO account.
- Open the extension and click Record with EasyMeet Assistant.
- Paste the meeting's invite link, or open the window from the meeting tab and the link is filled in for you.
- Click Connect Zoom. Zoom opens in a new tab and asks you to authorize EasyMeet Assistant. Click Allow.
- Back in the assistant window you see Connected as and your Zoom e-mail. You only do this once.
You can also add EasyMeet Assistant from the Zoom App Marketplace. After you click Allow, sign in to the extension with the same e-mail as your Zoom account and the connection is picked up automatically.
What the app can access. EasyMeet Assistant asks Zoom for two permissions: to read your Zoom user profile (your user ID, account ID and e-mail, so we can match the connection to your account) and to request a one-time token that lets the assistant join a meeting on your behalf while you are in it. It cannot read your meetings list, contacts, chats or cloud recordings.
Using the app
- Join the Zoom meeting yourself. Zoom lets the assistant in only while you are in the meeting.
- Open the extension, click Record with EasyMeet Assistant, check the link and click Send the assistant.
- If the meeting has a waiting room, the host admits EasyMeet Assistant.
- Zoom asks the host to allow recording. The host clicks Allow. Everyone in the meeting sees Zoom's recording indicator, and the assistant posts a notice in the chat.
- The assistant records until the meeting ends, everyone leaves, you leave, or you click Stop recording.
- A minute later the window shows Your recording is ready. Click Download video or Download audio.
Recordings are kept for 30 days and then deleted automatically. Download anything you want to keep. Each PRO account includes a monthly number of assistant hours, shown at the bottom of the assistant window.
Consent. You are responsible for telling participants that the meeting is recorded and for getting consent where the law requires it. Zoom's own recording notice and the assistant's chat message help, but they do not replace that.
Removing the app
Either way works:
- In the assistant window, open a Zoom meeting link and click Disconnect next to your Zoom account.
- In Zoom, sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace, open Manage → Added Apps, find EasyMeet Assistant and click Remove.
What happens to your data. When you disconnect, we revoke our access at Zoom and delete your Zoom tokens and Zoom profile details right away. When you remove the app in Zoom, Zoom notifies us and we delete the same data as soon as the notification arrives. Recordings already made stay available for download until their 30 days run out; to delete them sooner, write to us through the support page.
Troubleshooting
The assistant never shows up in the meeting.
Zoom lets the assistant in only on behalf of a participant. Join the meeting yourself first, from the Zoom account you connected, then send the assistant. Check that the meeting link is an invite link of the form https://zoom.us/j/…; personal room links (/my/…) and webinars are not supported.
“The meeting did not let the assistant join.”
Your Zoom account is not connected, or you were not in the meeting when the assistant tried to join. Open the assistant window, click Connect Zoom if you see it, join the meeting, and try again.
The assistant waits and then leaves.
The meeting has a waiting room and nobody admitted EasyMeet Assistant within 10 minutes. The host or a co-host admits it from the Participants panel.
“The host did not allow recording.”
Zoom asks the host to allow recording when the assistant joins. If the host declines or does not answer within 5 minutes, the assistant leaves without recording. The host can turn on Settings → Recording → Record to computer files and allow participants to request recording permission.
The assistant left when I left.
That is how Zoom works for apps that join on a participant's behalf: when the participant who sent the assistant leaves, Zoom removes the assistant too. Stay in the meeting until it ends.
The recording is not ready yet.
Processing usually takes under a minute after the assistant leaves, a little longer for long meetings. Keep the assistant window open or reopen it from the extension; download links are refreshed each time.
“Connect Zoom” finishes, but the window still asks to connect.
Close the Zoom tab and wait a few seconds; the window checks the connection on its own. If it still asks, make sure you signed in to the extension with the same account, then connect again.
